Delegation of votes

Some protocols allow DAO token holders to delegate their voting rights to the address of their choice. Often time, any wallet address can participate in the DAO governance by receiving delegated tokens, without the need to own native tokens previously. Users can delegate to one address at a time and votes are delegated from the current block and onwards, until the sender delegates again, or transfers their tokens.

Token holders can choose to delegate one or both of the voting rights associated with a token, either through the governance dashboard or programmatically. A user that has received delegated power cannot transfer this delegated power to another user/wallet address.

Good to know: Some DAO's allow token holders to delegate proposing power and voting power to different addresses, some only to the same. Some allow partial while others do not allow partial delegation of tokens/votes. Delegating and un-delegating votes often requires users to spend gas fees.
